What makes DiamondCityTravel different from other travel agencies?
Daimondcitytravel has been in business since 2000 . Thanks to the trust we have earned with our customers, DiamondCityTravel has been a recognized and respected name in the tourist industry for over a decade.
How does DiamondCityTravel maintain its competitive prices?
Our large volume of sales gives us preferential buying power with our suppliers and tour operators. This allows us to offer lower prices than our competitors. If you find a lower price, DiamondCityTravel will give the same or lower. (Example : You find a ticket $40 cheaper, just contact us and will give the same or even less for just being with us!)
Are there service charges at DiamondCityTravel ?
Service charges are usually included in our prices. There are no reservation charges when you book tickets yourself through our website.
The Consumer Protection Office requires a .35% ($3.50 per $1000) contribution to the Compensation Fund for Quebec travel agent customers. This fee is automatically added to your bill and charged to your credit card.
As such, you may obtain a reimbursement directly from the Compensation Fund for customers of our agency in the event that the tour operator is no longer able to respect its obligations, such as in the case of bankruptcy.
Do you have all-inclusive packages at the agency that do not appear on your Website?
All travel packages are on our Website, the best search tool available. For plane tickets, hotels, car rentals, cruises, tours, long stays or any other travel needs, we do business with suppliers and tour operators all over Canada.
Is it safe to make a reservation on line?
SSL technology encodes the information regarding your credit card number, name, address and phone number before transmission over the Internet. This procedure gives electronic transactions the same security guarantees as one finds with telephone purchases using your credit card. You will see the symbol of a padlock to the right of the address bar that indicates it is a secure Webpage. ( https )
Can my trip be paid for with the credit card of a person who is not traveling with me?
Yes, but…
- Make a photocopy of the credit card in question.
- Ask the credit card holder to write a note on the photocopy, stating that you have permission to withdraw X amount from the credit card.
- Have the credit card holder sign this paper.
- scan it and email it to travel@diamondcitytravel.ca.
Which destinations do not require a passport for a Canadian traveler?
For all trips outside of Canada, it is recommended that you carry a valid Canadian passport. However, certain destinations do not require a passport for a Canadian traveler:
- Mexico
- Dominican Republic
- Jamaica
- Bahamas (Certain restrictions apply, such as length of stay.)
However, you must have in your possession a birth certificate issued by your province after 1994, as well as 2 pieces of photo identification.
If my child is under 2, must I mention it when making my reservation?
Yes, DiamondCityTravel must let the tour operator know that you will be accompanied by your infant. Some countries require a tourist card even for very young children, usually at a cost of $16 to $22.
We must also ensure that your child can stay at the hotel, as certain hotels place restrictions on the number of children per room.
At what age is my child considered an adult?
Usually tour operators and hotels have special rates for children aged 12 and under. In rare cases, teens from the ages of 13 to 16 can also benefit from special rates.

Certain sun destinations require a tourist card, such as Mexico, Cuba and Dominican Republic. They are included in our price when you purchase an all-inclusive vacation package (except Dominican Republic with sunwing vacations, you will pay 10$ US). Tourist cards are distributed by personnel in the aircraft.
What is an electronic ticket? (“e-ticket”)
All airlines now use electronic tickets for flights, vacation packages, car rentals and hotel reservations. The information registered under your name is stored in the tour operator’s computer. You will receive a copy of these documents by e-mail. You should print and bring them with you when you travel as a reminder of your travel schedule.
When you get to the airport check-in counter, you only need proof of identity to have access to the services you have reserved. Airlines save thousands of dollars by using technology this way.
What are the advantages of e-tickets?
The advantage for you is that you cannot lose your ticket. By keeping the information in your e-mail box, you can always print it out again from anywhere in the world.
Can I select my airplane seats in advance?
Certain airlines offer this service, others do not. In most cases the airline charges for this service.

When is hurricane season? And rainy season?
Tropical storms and hurricanes that affect the eastern United States, the Caribbean and Central America generally occur between June and November. Most occur in August, September and October when ocean waters are at their warmest. Hurricane season is hot and humid and is often accompanied by tropical rain.
Canadians are encouraged to register at the Canadian government office abroad during hurricane season between June 1st and November 30th. Register on-line or call the Canadian Government Office abroad.
What happens to my trip in the case of a hurricane or other natural disasters?
In the case of natural disasters, it is difficult to foresee damages. According to the recommendations of the Government of Canada, the tour operator will cancel your trip and change your destination in order that you may return to Canada. Your tour operator decides whether or not to reimburse you for the total cost of your trip or only partially, or give you a travel credit. They can also decide that the trip is non refundable.
Some tour operators offer hurricane insurance. You can inquire when you make your reservation.
For information from the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, click here.
Who will bring me to, and pick me up from my destination?
A representative at your destination is aware of your arrival and will be waiting for you at the airport. This person will be clearly identified as representing the tour operator; he or she will indicate which shuttle to take to get to your hotel. The tour representative will accompany you on the bus and schedule a time for an orientation session which will give you information about the hotel and package. Your tour representative will also give you a schedule of his/her availabilities at the hotel should you have any questions or concerns.
For your return, the tour representative will give you the time and place to meet the bus which will take you to the airport for your departure.
How much tip should I give, and to whom?
It is best to ask this question to the tour representative at your destination. Certain hotels categorically refuse tips, where as others have no rules in this regard. Tips are generally given at your discretion to those who give you good service. Tips may also be given in the form of clothing, school materials, personal hygiene products, etc.
In some hotels, tips are included in your package. Usually chamber maids do not receive a share of this package; you may leave them a tip each day, or at the end of your stay if you have the same person cleaning your room every day.
If I want to do an excursion, who do I ask?
You can ask your tour operator, who will advise you about excursions and can reserve them for you.
What time must I vacate the hotel room?
International check-out from hotel rooms is 12:00 pm (noon). If your return flight is in the evening, ask the hotel reception about arrangements regarding your room and your luggage. Some hotels offer courtesy rooms or luggage storage; there may be a fee. As policies vary from one hotel to the next, your travel agent is not in a position to make these arrangements for you in advance.
How much alcohol and tobacco can I bring back to Canada?
You must be 18 years or older, according to the laws in the province or territory of entry, to import alcohol or tobacco into Canada.
